About Me

Hello, I’m Long Ming, and I’ve had the privilege of teaching and sharing my passion for music with students for over 20 years. My journey began with a love for the guitar, which eventually led me to study at renowned institutions like Berklee College of Music and the Leeds Conservatoire. With a LTCL Recital qualification in Classical Guitar and certifications in Jazz Guitar and ABRSM Music Theory, I’ve been fortunate to grow not only as a musician but also as a teacher.

I’ve had the pleasure of teaching guitar across a variety of genres, including Electric, Classical, Acoustic, and Theory. Throughout my career, I’ve worked with some of the most respected music institutions, such as Tom Lee Music, Parsons Music, and Rockschool in Hong Kong. In 2012, I founded my own music teaching centre, Grandee Music, where I created unique lesson curricula for guitar, piano, and drums. It’s also where I regularly invite international speakers to host seminars, workshops, and jam sessions, creating a dynamic learning environment for both students and educators.

In 2020, I made the exciting move to the UK, where I continue to share my love for music with students at schools like St. James CoE Primary, Bramhope Primary, Kippax Ash Tree Primary, Aberford CoE Primary, Leeds Jewish Free School, Temple Moor High School, and Allerton Grange School.

I’ve also been fortunate to perform at some incredible venues, including Queen Elizabeth Stadium in Hong Kong, TVB, Iserlohn in Germany, Northern Guitar, Hyde Park Book Club, Riley Smith Hall in Tadcaster, and Morley Academy. Music has taken me to so many places, both physically and emotionally, and I aim to pass on that depth of experience to my students.

My teaching philosophy is simple: Music is a journey of the heart. Whether you’re learning to play for fun or pursuing a career in music, I believe that music is not just about playing the notes; it’s about expressing your emotions and telling your story through sound. This is reflected in my logo, which features a vibrato after the end of the double bar line – symbolising that the feeling of music lingers, even after the notes have stopped.

Over the years, I’ve had the joy of guiding several students to become professional musicians, and I’ve helped many others achieve excellent results in their grade exams. Some of my students have even gone on to study music at the university level, and I take great pride in their achievements.

If you’re looking for a teacher who will help you discover your musical voice, whether you’re a beginner or an advanced player, I’d love to help you along the way.

Let’s make music that speaks from the heart.
